The classic flight jacket (or MA-1, or bomber jacket) was developed in the ’50 in response to US pilots requirements for a lightweight warm cockpit jacket. It’s generally thought to be the first military to civilian crossover garment. This is an updated take on the classic style.
The bulk has been reduced by using less fill and a slimmer cut which addresses the main issue with the almost circular cut of the classic. The main body is in a Japanese woven Tencel fabric which has less shine than the usual nylon and adds a little texture. Woven Cotton rib at the cuffs and collar will keep the wind out. There’s an I-phone sized sleeve pocket - that the pilots would never have needed - and it’s lined in a custom LOL print nylon. It’s finished off with Swiss made premium Riri zips on the body and pockets to ensure years of service. It can even be reversed and buttoned, if you are feeling colourful, making for a perfect day into night garment.
